Our supplier makes over 100 flavors, so we'll be rotating flavors to offer a delicious variety. This will include seasonal, soy, non-fat yogurt, sherbet, no sugar added, italian ice, and caffeinated flavors! We will offer shakes, malts, sundaes, and "splits".

Although we're an ice cream shop, we'll have many other options.  At Mom & Pop's, there's something for everyone!

We have worked with our coffee supplier to create a delicious Mom & Pop's Blend! Our Location

Mom & Pop's is located on the corner of Rock Street and North Riverfront Drive in Mankato, MN, near the entrance to Riverfront Park. We're in "Old Town" next to Diamond Vogel.  We have plenty of on-street parking!

Mom & Pop's is locally owned/operated by us, Tammey and Erin Gatchell. We, along with our three children, Sheldon, Braeden and Sophie, look forward to welcoming you to Mom & Pop's! We are not a franchise, however, two future locations are planned for upper North Mankato and St. Peter! The Mankato Mom & Pop's will open May/June!

What Does Super-Premium Mean?

Super-Premium means an overrun of less than 50%. Ice cream overrun refers to how much air is pushed into the ice cream while it's being made. 50% overrun equals one part air to two parts cream. Our ice cream standard is 35% overrun, that's one part air to three parts cream.That means you'll experience a creamier, smoother, and richer ice cream! Less air results in less ice crystals, giving you that melt-in-your-mouth creaminess. In addition, Super-Premium ice cream must have at least 14% butterfat.

Our supplier uses only the finest ingredients, including an all natural mix made only with rbGH-free cream from Wisconsin cows, pure cane sugar, and natural stabilizers.

Dairy Free Options

Our Soy and Italian Ice flavors are dairy free.  According to our supplier, the product is completely dairy free.  The chocolate is soy based as well.  However, the scoops do transfer traces of dairy between flavors, so we can never 100% guarantee that it won't have traces of dairy.  My supplier also says that most people who have dairy allergies will say that as long as there is a clean and sanitized scoop, they're fine.  If it is very severe, they should not risk it.  So, I will tell you that there could be traces of dairy.  The health and safety of our customers is very important to us at Mom & Pop's, we include this so that you can make an informed choice.

Donations Policy

We at Mom & Pop's care very much about your event/cause.  We have received several requests for donations.  Although we participated in a few initially, we're now making an annual donation to BENCHS rather than consider individual requests.  It's far too difficult to take each request on a case by case basis.  We do not want to pick and choose.  For that reason, we respectfully decline all donation requests.
